Description
The PhD in Politics at LUISS is a fully-funded three-year (full-time) doctoral program, conducted in English, that aims to prepare scholars with the methodological and substantive tools to pursue advanced academic and professional careers in international institutions, NGOs, government, and research organizations.
PhD candidates receive supervision from at least two scholars (one of whom is usually from the program’s international Academic Board), and are required to engage in both taught coursework (in their first two years) and independent research, supported by seminars and international exchange opportunities.
The programme welcomes proposals aligned with the department’s key research clusters, such as Elections & Political Systems, Global & International Studies, European Integration & Public Policies, and Communication, Sustainability & Social Innovation.
Through structured milestones (including coursework, research proposals, annual presentations, and thesis defense), the program supports doctoral students in developing original and policy-relevant contributions to the field of political science.
