This international academic event has marked the launch of the inaugural issue of Intercultural Dialogue, a new Open Access journal published by De Gruyter Brill, entitled “Commemorating 50 Years of China–EU Relations”.
Intercultural Dialogue is a journal dedicated to the study of languages, cultures, and intercultural exchanges, with the aim of fostering dialogue and mutual learning. Further information on the journal is available at: https://brill.com/icdg.
Participants in the event have also been introduced to The Maritime Silk Road and Intercultural Exchange, a new book series published by De Gruyter Brill and co-edited by Prof. Yue Liu (Xiamen University) and Prof. Federico Masini (Sapienza University of Rome, Director of the Confucius Institute of Rome).
The event has been structured around two main roundtables. The first has brought together contributors to Intercultural Dialogue for a discussion of the themes addressed in the special issue and, more broadly, of current developments and future perspectives in the fields of intercultural dialogue and China–Europe relations. The second has been dedicated to the future of collaboration between Chinese and European Institutions, with a focus on upcoming activities, including research cooperation, academic exchanges, and publication projects.
Bringing together scholars and institutional representatives from China and Europe, the event has provided an opportunity to reflect on the development of China–Europe relations over the past fifty years and to discuss future perspectives for academic and cultural cooperation.
