Description

REMIT is a major European research initiative (2023–2027) funded under Horizon Europe, aiming to revitalize multilateralism through strategic technology governance.

The project brings together a consortium of leading European institutions, including Maastricht University, the University of Bremen, KU Leuven, LUISS University and others, with interdisciplinary expertise in politics, law, technology, and public policy.

Within REMIT, LUISS contributes to the work stream on “Geopolitics in Technology Governance”, investigating how major powers (EU, US, China) approach regulatory frameworks and strategic choices in domains such as digital tech, AI, defense, biotech, and financial technology.

The project combines theoretical research, scenario workshops, stakeholder consultations, and comparative analysis to generate policy recommendations and governance pathways. It addresses the core challenge of aligning technology development with democratic values and multilateral structures in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape.
